Beats, Tempo, and Rhythm: Quarter Notes

Today I taught my son who just turned 5 about beats, tempo, and rhythm: quarter notes. With his personality, I've noticed I need to keep lesson short and simple. My goal is to create good feelings in his mind about learning to play the piano. Today we had some fun moments with the tempo of the beats. He wanted to be a little crazy and turn the tempo up to the highest setting. He started laughing and thought that was pretty fun. I feel that my goal to teach him about beats and quarter notes went well. He seemed happy about this lesson.
